Shock Horror is a song about our responsibility as individuals to question the judgemental thoughts that we’ve been brought up to think and ask ourselves why we think these things and whether or not we truly believe them, because we are capable of unlearning outdated attitudes if we are willing to put in the effort. On the flipside, it’s about the empowerment that comes with knowing that if others prejudge you for harmless self-expression, then that’s a problem in themselves that they need to rectify; not an indication that you need to shrink yourself to make them comfortable.

Shock Horror 03:41
She’s too old to wear a dress like that She should learn to have some self-respect And you’ll never guess what I just saw A man wearing a dress It dropped my jaw So, is it a girl or boy you’re due? Should I buy it pink clothes or blue? Will it need a wallet or a purse? And when it grows up will it be A doctor or a nurse? I’m so shocked, but is it me? Or is it how I’m trained to think by society Is that really how I feel? Are the things that shock me a big deal? Too much makeup, too much skin Try your best- you’ll never win Be yourself and fuck the rest Someone’s always unimpressed That girl needs to cover up her chest Toplessness should be reserved for men And isn’t it a shame she cut her hair? Well she’s not hurting you so please Try harder not to care I’m so shocked, but is it me? Or is it how I’m trained to think by society Is that really how I feel? Are the things that shock me a big deal? Too much makeup, too much skin Try your best- you’ll never win Be yourself and fuck the rest Someone’s always unimpressed
